Peace reigns. The four Clans share the forest without dispute or doubt. Prey is plentiful, kits are abundant, and morales are high. Life is good.
Flashes of strange cats. Eyes peering out from foliage : there one heartbeat; gone the next. Clan cats wonder if they are going mad. Who are these mysterious entities that seem to disappear the moment one looks back?
Prey seems to become harder to find. Fresh-kill piles are smaller every day. Is there a connection between this and the strange cats?
As is expected, the Clans blame each other. Animosity grows between the Clans, and fights are a regular occurrence at the borders. There is no proof, but as senseless as it seems, war erupts. The monthly gatherings at Fourtrees are attended only grudgingly by the Clans, to respect the will of their warrior ancestors.
But StarClan is silent.
There is only one word, whispered carefully within the Clans, that seems to be the key to this enigma: CrystalClan.
